How it Works

1. Sign up for the program by visiting the Children’s and Youth Services desk at the Main Library or Madison Branch. Every child from infant up to kindergarten is eligible.

2. Stop by the Main Library or Madison Branch to pick up your first reading log, a folder, and a bookmark or print the log from the link on this page.

3. Read together.

4. Write the titles on your READ AND GROW reading log. If you read a book more than once, you can record it each time. Books read at Library story time, at daycare, preschool or by others to your child also count! Record 100 books at a time.

5. When you finish 100 books, bring your sheet to the library and receive a stamp for your completed page and a new reading log (or print the new log from the link on this page. Receive a new caterpillar section to place on the cover of your folder for every 100 books you read. Watch your caterpillar grow each time you read 100 books!

6. When you have finished 1,000 books your child will receive a butterfly sticker and receive an invitation to a special Butterfly story time and craft.

7. BEST OF ALL, GET A JUMPSTART ON READING SUCCESS!
